A heartwarming comedy, full of laughter and tears, about the struggles of various people trying to make it onto the popular TV show "NHK Nodojiman."

Akagi Reiko, an unsuccessful enka singer who travels year-round, is her next stop on the business: her hometown, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. However, her hometown feels different after a long absence. And that's because "NHK Nodojiman" is coming to town! Reiko accidentally finds a postcard for the preliminary round at her father's bar, and secretly enters the preliminary round, yearning to sing in front of a large audience. Gathered at the preliminary venue are a middle-aged man who can't seem to get it right, a high school girl dreaming of becoming a singer, and an elderly man looking to cheer up his grandson who's moving far away... And on the day of the big day, the contestants take to the microphone with a variety of emotions in their hearts.
