After retiring from his job as a firefighter, Umano Mokuhei moved from his rural town in the Hokuriku region to live with his son and daughter-in-law near Tokyo after his wife, Natsumi, was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. He's known as the Hokuriku region's master of crafting large chrysanthemums. One day, at a local chrysanthemum club gathering, Mokuhei is introduced to Miharu, a music college student who engages in compensated dating with elderly people. With her guidance, Mokuhei visits Kurose's house in the neighboring town. Kurose is a nationally renowned master of crafting chrysanthemums, and it was during his childhood when he saw the chrysanthemums Kurose made while evacuated to the Hokuriku region that Mokuhei became obsessed with chrysanthemums. However, Kurose, stubborn and greedy, treats Mokuhei coldly. However, he takes an interest in Miharu and offers to teach Mokuhei his special fertilizer, but...
This is the directorial debut of award-winning screenwriter Shunsaku Ikebata.
