"Why did you confess, knowing you were leaving?"

Otaru, Hokkaido. One day, Shu, a high school senior, confesses his love for Hiro to him, asking him to go out with her. Hiro is genuinely happy about this unexpected happiness, but the reality of their imminent graduation awaits them. Shu, meanwhile, has trouble telling her about his future plans. While Hiro plans to attend a university in his hometown of Hokkaido, Shu is planning to attend Waseda University in Tokyo. "Why didn't you tell me? What are you trying to do, confessing to me when you're going to Tokyo?" Angered, Hiro stops responding to Shu's phone calls and emails, even as he tries to express his feelings. Sensing Hiro's feelings, Shu consults with his homeroom teacher, Mr. Takanashi, about canceling his trip to Tokyo. Takayanagi encourages him to continue his studies, but he is unable to contain his emotions. Hearing that Hiro is canceling his trip to Tokyo, Hiro is overjoyed. However, his feelings begin to change little by little... This is the directorial debut of popular screenwriter Etsuko Kitagawa. A love story produced by Shunji Iwai with music direction by Takeshi Kobayashi.
