Survive, no matter what.

In 1974, Anson and his family move from Kyoto to Tokyo to receive treatment for their son, Chan-seong, who is suffering from a terminal illness. In their new home, Anson's younger sister, Kyung-ja, is scouted by an entertainment production company and enters the entertainment industry to escape her narrow world and earn money for Chan-seong's medical expenses. There, she meets Nomura, a senior actor who remains untainted by the industry, and gradually becomes attracted to him. Meanwhile, Anson happens to be on the train with his high school rival, Kondo, and during a fight, he meets Sato, a Japan National Railways employee, who comes to his aid. After being fired from the railway as a result of the fight, Sato becomes close with Kyung-ja, Chan-seong, and their families. While harboring feelings for Kyung-ja, Sato also begins to want to help Chan-seong in his own way. Anson and Sato then hatch a reckless plan to save Chan-seong...
